The Global Ice Melting Is Causing The Earth To Tilt On It's Axis Faster.

The average displacement was around 4.2 inch per year during the past century and scientists believe that the process may be accelerating.
During the twentieth century, the axis of rotation of the Earth accumulated a displacement of more than 10 meters, as has been established by a group of scientists from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of NASA,
The researchers highlight Greenland's melting among the causes of this inclination, but admit that there are also two other very relevant ones.
The process called 'glacial rebound' is a "traditional explanation" of secular polar displacement, said team leader Surendra Adhikari, whose words are collected by the Earth Sky website . However, it can be attributed only about a third of the axis movement produced in the last century.

Another factor is the convection of the mantle: the terrestrial layer located below the crust. This process is due to the "long-term mass movement", which is a "key mechanism" to promote the migration of the axis.

The group estimates that this factor will still accelerate the detour in the near future, which during the last century occurred at an average speed of 10.5 centimeters per year.

"If you have a mass that is 45 degrees from the North Pole - which is Greenland - or from the South Pole (like the Patagonian glaciers ), it will have a greater impact on the axis of rotation of the Earth than a mass that is just close to the pole. "he explained.
The three main causes have been identified thanks to an interactive simulation of polar movement, which is the result of a combination of 283 models of different cryospheric, hydrological, oceanic and seismogenic processes on Earth.
A summary of the scientific article, which the Earth and Planetary Science Letters magazine will publish next November, details that they are sophisticated models that recently appeared and reconstruct the tectonic plates, along with geoid and seismic tomography models.
The term 'global warming' has a reassuring, comfortable sound, writes Jim Hansen. But paleoclimate data shows the reality could be anything but, with rapid climate oscillations, large, abrupt rises in sea level, major disruptions to ocean circulation, and massive superstorms. It may already be too late to forestall this dystopian future.
Approaching a point of no return
The relevance is that I believe we are already witnessing the beginning of this cooling southeast of Greenland and cooling around Antarctica in response to freshwater from ice melt.
In that case observed cooling southeast of Greenland and the extra warming along the United States East Coast are not natural fluctuations - when AMOC slows down it causes both of those. This interpretation implies that Greenland meltwater is already having significant effects.
The warm water along the East Coast is the reason that 'Sandy' retained hurricane force winds all the way up to the New York City area - the nearby Atlantic was about 3C warmer than normal. This unusually warm ocean water has also been able to provide the moisture for record snowstorms in recent years.
Is our world in danger?
The influx of fresh water from shrinking ice sheets also causes the planet to pitch over. Landerer and colleagues estimate that the melting of Greenland's ice is already causing Earth's axis to tilt at an annual rate of about 2.6 inch and that rate may increase significantly in the coming years.
During the this century, ocean warming will make the north pole's spin axis to move towards Alaska and Hawaii about 1.5 inch per year. The newly redistributed mass will also make our planet to spin faster.
#4. “The Nabateans”-- The city of Petra located in what is now the country of Jordan is one of the most breathtaking architectural wonders of the ancient world and was home to an extraordinary ancient civilization known as The Nabateans. The Nabateans arrived in Jordan around 700 BC and would prosper as one of the elite trading nations until the first century AD. Then in the fourth century the Nabateans would suddenly pick up and abandon Petra. The city was carved into the mountains around it and for most of its existence was an impenetrable fortress. Because of this, as it being at the perfect strategic location to control trading in the Middle East and Arabian peninsula Nabatea became a cultural melting pot with the Nabateans becoming experts in irrigation, medicine and the arts. They were even known for adopting much of the Hellenistic cultures of Rome and Greece into their native Arabic traditions. The Nabateans lived alongside the great empires of Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar and had a working relationship with the Romans until they sided against them during the period of turmoil that resulted from Caesar’s assassination. The Romans would eventually conquer most of their territory yet they still called Petra home for a few hundred years. Then one day the Nabateans decided it was time to leave their capital, so they packed up everything and left. Most of their people probably assimilated into other cultures and empires and though its not known exactly why they decided to leave their beautiful city--it is most likely that because of technological advancements in seafaring it lost much of the value it once had as an international marketplace.
#3. “The Mycenaeans”--For two hundred years the Mycenaeans ruled Greece, but in flash they were gone. The Mycenaeans lived from approximately 1600 to 1100 BC becoming the first civilization to comprise of several Greek states working together. This alliance and cultural movement would end up in the founding of historic cities. Mycenaean Greece was made up of the areas of what would come to be home to Athens, Sparta, Crete and Thebes and at its height extended its rule to boundaries close to that of modern Greece. The Mycenaeans were heavily influenced by the aforementioned Minoan civilization, improving and expanding upon their artwork, architecture and religious traditions. Much of Mycenaean culture can be considered a direct precursor to that of Ancient and Classical Greece and it is from them that most of the mythology of Greece would spring. If the myths and legends are true, Mycenaean Greece can claim some of the world’s most renowned heroes like Odysseus, Achilles and Theseus. Perseus himself, the half-god who vanquished Medusa, is said to be the founder of Mycenae. But Perseus’ kingdom wouldn’t last long as just as fast as it expanded it was snuffed out. Many historians claim that its early exit around 1200 BC was due to “flying too close to the sun” as many texts claim the Mycenaeans had tried and failed to expand their empire beyond Greece, costing them manpower and resources. The time around 1200 BC was an extremely wild time as many civilizations in the Middle East and Mediterranean that were advanced for this point in history began fighting amongst themselves, causing many to collapse and have to rebuild. The histories that the poet Homer wrote suggest the Mycenaeans tried to takeover Egypt but failed. There are also theories that suggest civil war and invasions by outsiders could be the reason that Mycenae is no more.
#9. “Island of Socotra”- Off the coast of Somalia in the Indian ocean is an island that seems as though it belongs on another planet. Socotra Island has long been theorized as a location for the biblical Garden of Eden, and just by looking at pictures of it you can see why. The island is home to several species of plants that are can’t be found anywhere else on Earth. There are the Dr. Seuss looking Adenium socotranum which have big bulbous trunks and tiny gnarly branches that sprout from their tops and bear flowers that are a marvelous shade of pink. There odd appearance makes them kind of look like giant root vegetables. Then there are the Dragon’s Blood Trees which look like perfect natural umbrellas. The have trunks that resemble that of an average tree but their thick tightly bunched branches shoot upwards and form a mushroom like crown. Socotra is also home to three geographically unique species of bird: the socotra sunbird, socotra grosbeak and socotra starling. There aren’t many other creatures that inhabit the island other than that of bats and insects and the last time it was home to man was around the year 100 A.D. Adding to the mystery, the island has been the site of dozens of shipwrecks over the years.
